Bhubaneswar-April 19: Bhubaneswar–based Innovatives Groups, involved in several businesses like fund management, homes & infrastructures, agriculture & beverage & hotel industry, in association with UK- based Uniworld Corporate Consultants Consortium Inc, plans to invest Rs 400 crore in the state.
Speaking about the development, Uniworld Director and CEO Swaraj Mukherjee said that the investment would be made in starting eight new projects in the state.
“ We intend to start eco-friendly projects of herbs and spices and then to export them to UK. We are planning to plant herbal trees for the same reason here. Indian spices are popular even in European countries and UK. So it would be a good idea to start export of spices and herbal medicines to the medicines to the UK market, “ Mukherjee added.
Innovatives Group Chairman Prasant Kumar Das said, “ I am interested only in those projects that would protect our environment. Though we have just signed an MOU with the Innovatives Group but once the formalities get completed, we would begin eco-schools and spice farming in the state.”
Das and Mukherjee also said, “India has 160 varieties of fruits but it exports only one which is mango. Thailand grows only 16 fruits but exports 15 out of them. We need to be innovative. But people in India are not so. Even today, they are reluctant to become an entrepreneur and prefer an ordinary govt job rather than to start a business of their own. I want 600 acres of land in Orissa to grow herbs to make medicines which are getting popular in the western world as well.”
All these will be implemented to create 20,000 jobs in the state. However, of the proposed Rs. 400- crore investments, 70 percent will be raised by Uniworld from overseas and 30 percent from within India. The project studies are in progress and implementation will start on October 20 and be completed in two years.
Uniworld will set up an Entrepreneurship Development Institute along with their Human Asset Institute in Bhubaneswar. A media proposal exchanged programme in UK, EU is also planned by the Organization for the print and electronic media personnel in Orissa.
